This clip is from a 1989 short film directed by Yelena Gavrilko who was
one of the new wave of young directors to emerge in the 80s. All of
Gavrilko's films are based on folk tales and address non-traditional
relationships. This is a surrealistic view of a poignant and lonely
relationship between a fisherman and his fish.

I've been enormously influenced by the MRA cartoons. I like Yelena Gavrilko's 'Girlfriend' among many other in the MRA series. After seeing Russian writing basicly for the first time, I started getting interested in learning the language. I've been studying Russian language for two years now, and I must say- it's damn difficult! But I still have an interest in it, and it still fascinates me just to hear it. An interesting insight into a country that was only two decades ago, off limits for the rest of the world! Yes, there is creative thought and humor even in Russia! And besides, it may not be such a bad place as would be generally perceived by outsiders. Thanks for the inspiration, you guys!
